Properties Selections

With PsyCalc you can specify which two psychrometric properties are to be entered for an airstream and which psychrometric properties you wish to see as output. In the Mixing mode air flow units are specified also.

The four psychrometric property input boxes can accept six different types of input values. The table below lists the available selections:

Description

English

Metric

Dry Bulb Temperature

ºFdb

ºCdb

Wet Bulb Temperature

ºFwb

ºCwb

Relative Humidity

% RH

% RH

Dew Point Temperature

ºFdp

ºCdp

Humidity Ratio*

gr/lb

g/kg

Enthalpy*

Btu/lb

kJ/kg

* these properties are evaluated on a dry air basis

Specifying properties is done by selecting the unit of measure for that property in the drop down box to the right of the value input box. Click the down arrow to see what unit options are available. Click the unit of measure to select it and recalculate the output values.

If the selection of a different unit of measure results in a set of psychrometric properties that is greater than the saturate curve or less than the zero moisture content an "EXCEEDS LIMITS" message is displayed. Simply adjust one or both values to clear the message. The "EXCEEDS LIMITS" message is also displayed if the program is asked to calculate beyond its own calculation limits.

The four output boxes can display eleven different psychrometric properties. These are listed below:

In the Mixing Calculator Volumetric flow rate values are required to perform the calculations. The unit selection available for these inputs are:

All input values may be typed directly into their respective text boxes or changed using the Spin Button adjacent to their text box.
